Early Morning Thoughts

Simple/simplicity....

Now, this might sound great, but it is not always easy to obtain. Life throws alot at us at times and we can feel very overwhelmed.  So, what can we do to obtain it...find joy, happiness, laughter and peace in the little things that God has provided for us.   

Take a moment and get real quiet and listen.  Nature speaks to us, but sometimes...we are so busy that we don't really hear all of it.  

I find that when life becomes busy, overwhelming or hectic for me (and I have been there alot these last couple of months)...I go outside and either sit or go for a walk and just listen.  Clear my mind of the things that I can't control and just breathe....  

So, my next pieces are all about this....

I took a photo of a flowering bud that was growing in my garden this Spring and printed it onto fabric.  From that point, I used some acrylics, mediums and white gel pen on the image.

On this next piece, I used an image of a butterfly that I took, while visiting a butterfly exhibit last month.  

This next piece was all about patches of color.  Sometimes, we can feel like the world with all of it's issues is so void of life and color.  But, it is up to each of us, to find the beauty of life.

hope.....

It may only be a four letter word, but it sure carries alot of power with it.

The image is of an angel that I painted on cardboard.  I incorporated layers of acrylics, medium and words to this cover.

I was actually going to create a small book, but once I started to work with it, the layers kept adding up...:)

For those who are not famliar with my books... I created them as a piece of art itself, but also to be used.  Most of the pages have some type of embellishment, fabric or paper on them.  I do leave some pages blank, but what I do. is jump start the creative process for you.  I help you with facing the blank page.  It allows you to start journaling, sketching, scrapbooking, etc. right away.  

I painted this ocean scene with acrylics.

These are some of the pages from this book.  The spine measures 4" high and the book measures, 8 1/2 x 10 1/2.  The pages itself measures, 8 1/2 x 7 1/2.  

I will be listing this in my etsy.

Butterflies

Yesterday, hubby and I heading off to see the Butterfly exhibit. I have never been to one, so this was a treat to see one.  I can say that it was amazing!!!  There were so many amazing butterflies, flying around us.  To be surrounded by so many where they would land on you and fly by your face made me feel like a kid again.   

Here are a few of the pictures that I took from this exhibit...

If you ever get a chance to see a butterfly exhibit, I would hightly recommend it.

Hello....

Happy Sunday everyone...

The sun is out here in Michigan and I for one, am thrilled.  Spring is in the air and I can't wait to jump into it...:)

I am so looking forward to opening up the windows and doors. Love hearing the birds chirping, the hummingbirds fluttering by, all the little animals bouncing around the yard.  As you can tell, I love Spring...

MIA = missing in action

Hard to believe that it has been a while, since I last posted.  Sometimes, when I find myself in a creative mode, I need to shut the world out for a bit.  This allows me to keep the creative juices flowing.  I find that with so much that we have going on in our everyday life, that life can become noisy and for me to be creative...I need to shut the noise out. So, when everyone is gone, I close the door to my studio and create.   

I have a number of items that I have been working on and I will post each one as they are done.

Today, I wanted to share with you a painting that I have been working on.  I painted this on plaster.  

The size of this is 15 x 10.  Wouldn't this look amazing on a piece of old wood?  

I did want to share with you a picture of one of our labs...Sammy.  She had to be put down a couple of weeks ago, due to age and illnesses she was going through.  We will miss you girl.
